Terms for South Star Home Services, operated by South Star LLC, including customer communication, preliminary budget guidance, independent service providers, referral fees, scheduling, payment responsibility, and optional SMS disclosures.

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to South Star Home Services, operated by South Star LLC (“South Star Home Services”, “South Star”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By using our website, submitting a request, calling us, emailing us, communicating with us, or proceeding with any service provider introduced or coordinated through South Star Home Services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Role of South Star Home Services
South Star Home Services is a marketing, customer intake, communication, scheduling, lead coordination, and referral service for small handyman-related and home service requests.
South Star may communicate with customers, collect project details, review photos, ask follow-up questions, discuss general scope, provide preliminary budget guidance, coordinate scheduling, and route service requests to an available independent service provider.
South Star may help a customer understand whether a request appears to fit the general category of small handyman or home service work based on the information provided by the customer. This review is preliminary and is not a professional inspection, contractor evaluation, engineering opinion, legal opinion, permit review, or final job approval.
Unless expressly agreed in a separate written agreement signed by South Star LLC, South Star does not perform the physical handyman work, does not supervise the worksite, does not direct the means or methods of the work, and does not act as the contractor, general contractor, licensed contractor, employer, insurer, guarantor, or project manager for the work performed by an independent service provider.
2. Independent Service Providers
The handyman, contractor, technician, installer, laborer, or other person who performs the physical work is an independent service provider.
Independent service providers are not employees, partners, agents, joint venturers, franchisees, or representatives of South Star LLC unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement signed by South Star LLC.
The independent service provider is solely responsible for reviewing the requested work, confirming that the work is within their ability and legal authority, confirming the final scope, confirming the final price, performing the work, using proper tools and methods, following applicable laws, maintaining any required license or insurance, and addressing any issues related to workmanship, damage, delay, defects, safety, cleanup, correction, refund, warranty, rework, or customer complaints.
Customers are responsible for deciding whether to proceed with any independent service provider and for confirming the final scope, price, timing, and payment terms directly with that provider before work begins.
3. Customer Communication and Preliminary Budget Guidance
South Star may communicate with customers before a job is accepted by a service provider. This communication may include questions about ZIP code, photos, timing, budget, access, materials, product type, mounting surface, work area, urgency, and general scope.
Any price, estimate, quote, range, budget discussion, or scheduling information provided by South Star before the service provider confirms the job is preliminary, non-binding, and based only on the limited information provided by the customer.
Preliminary budget guidance is not a final contract price, not a guaranteed quote, not a promise that the work can be completed for that amount, and not a representation that the job is legally or technically appropriate for a particular provider.
Final pricing may change based on actual site conditions, access, parking, travel, materials, product issues, missing parts, hidden damage, wall structure, flooring conditions, added scope, timing, customer-supplied products, or facts not visible or disclosed before work begins.
No final agreement for the physical work exists until the customer and the independent service provider confirm the job scope, final price, timing, access, materials, and payment terms.
4. Payment and Referral Fee Structure
South Star does not collect payment from the customer for handyman labor unless expressly agreed in a separate written agreement.
Payment for the physical work is made directly between the customer and the independent service provider. The service provider is responsible for collecting payment, issuing any receipt if applicable, handling any payment dispute, and addressing any refund or correction request related to the work.
South Star may receive a referral, marketing, lead-generation, coordination, or administrative fee from the independent service provider. This fee is paid by the service provider and does not make South Star the contractor, employer, supervisor, guarantor, insurer, or party responsible for the physical work.
Unless expressly agreed in writing, South Star is not responsible for deposits, cash payments, payment apps, chargebacks, refunds, cancellations, unpaid balances, extra labor, materials, reimbursement disputes, taxes, tips, or any other financial arrangement between the customer and the independent service provider.
5. Small Jobs Only
South Star Home Services is intended for small jobs under $1,000.
South Star Home Services is not a licensed contractor.
South Star does not knowingly coordinate electrical work, plumbing work, permit work, structural work, major remodeling, hazardous work, or work that requires a licensed contractor unless the request is redirected or referred to an appropriately licensed professional.
Requests involving permits, structural work, employee labor, licensed trades, hazardous conditions, or projects at or above applicable California contractor licensing thresholds may be declined, redirected, or referred to a licensed contractor or other appropriate professional.
South Star does not guarantee that any request is exempt from licensing, permitting, insurance, HOA, landlord, building, safety, or other legal requirements. The customer and the independent service provider are responsible for confirming whether the requested work can be performed legally and safely.
6. Customer Responsibilities
The customer is responsible for providing accurate, complete, and timely information, including photos, measurements, descriptions, ZIP code, access instructions, parking information, timing preferences, product details, and any other information needed to evaluate the request.
The customer is responsible for disclosing known issues such as weak walls, water damage, mold, pests, hidden wiring, hidden plumbing, old repairs, uneven surfaces, fragile materials, missing parts, building restrictions, landlord rules, HOA requirements, or any condition that may affect the work.
The customer is responsible for confirming that the requested work is allowed by the property owner, landlord, HOA, property manager, lease, building rules, local law, or any other applicable requirement.
The customer is responsible for providing safe access to the property and work area, securing pets, removing fragile items, clearing the work area, and ensuring that the service provider can perform the work safely.
The customer is responsible for inspecting the work, raising concerns directly with the independent service provider, and confirming completion before making payment.
7. Materials, Products, and Existing Conditions
Unless otherwise agreed directly with the independent service provider, the customer is responsible for purchasing, providing, or reimbursing the cost of required materials, fixtures, hardware, paint, wallpaper, flooring, furniture, mounting brackets, parts, supplies, or other items needed for the job.
South Star is not responsible for defective products, missing parts, incorrect customer-supplied materials, unclear manufacturer instructions, product warranty issues, poor product quality, incompatible hardware, weak walls, hidden wiring, hidden plumbing, hidden damage, improper prior work, structural defects, old paint, uneven surfaces, water damage, mold, pest damage, or other pre-existing or concealed conditions.
If a customer supplies materials, fixtures, hardware, or products, the customer is responsible for confirming that those items are suitable for the intended use, compatible with the property, complete, safe, and available at the scheduled time.
8. Workmanship, Damage, Delays, and Disputes
Because the physical work is performed by an independent service provider, any issue related to workmanship, property damage, incomplete work, delays, cleanup, correction, refund, warranty, rework, or customer dissatisfaction must be addressed directly with the independent service provider who performed the work.
South Star may, at its discretion, help relay messages or assist with communication between the customer and the service provider. However, doing so does not make South Star responsible for the work, guarantee a particular result, create a warranty, or create liability for the acts or omissions of the independent service provider.
South Star does not guarantee the quality, timing, safety, legality, appearance, durability, completion, or outcome of work performed by any independent service provider.
9. No Warranties by South Star
South Star provides the website, intake, communication, preliminary budget guidance, scheduling assistance, lead coordination, and referral-related services on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, South Star disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, quality, safety, and suitability.
Any warranty, promise, correction, rework, guarantee, or service commitment related to the physical work must come directly from the independent service provider, unless South Star expressly agrees otherwise in a separate written agreement signed by South Star LLC.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, South Star LLC, South Star Home Services, its owners, members, managers, employees, contractors, vendors, affiliates, and representatives are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or economic damages, including lost profits, lost time, loss of use, inconvenience, emotional distress, property value loss, business interruption, substitute service costs, or disputes between a customer and an independent service provider.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, any liability of South Star related to a service request, referral, communication, website use, scheduling assistance, preliminary budget guidance, lead coordination, or referral activity is limited to the amount, if any, actually paid directly to South Star by the customer for that specific coordination service.
If the customer did not pay South Star directly for a specific coordination service, South Star’s liability for any claim related to that request is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
11. No Professional Advice
Information provided by South Star Home Services is for general customer communication, intake, scheduling, preliminary budget guidance, and coordination purposes only.
South Star does not provide legal, engineering, architectural, construction, permitting, insurance, tax, safety, inspection, code-compliance, structural, electrical, plumbing, or other professional advice.
Customers and service providers are responsible for obtaining any professional advice, permits, inspections, approvals, licenses, insurance, or legal guidance required for a specific project.
12. Refusal, Cancellation, and Referral
South Star and any independent service provider may refuse, cancel, pause, or redirect a request at any time if the job appears unsafe, illegal, outside scope, outside the service area, inaccurately described, beyond the provider’s ability, likely to require a license or permit, or otherwise inappropriate.
South Star may refer a customer to a licensed contractor or other third-party professional when appropriate, but South Star does not guarantee availability, pricing, licensing status, insurance status, performance, communication, quality, timing, or results of any referred provider.
13. Text Messaging Terms
Program name: South Star Home Services, operated by South Star LLC.
If you opt in to SMS messages, you agree to receive text messages from South Star Home Services regarding your handyman or home service request.
You may opt in by checking the separate optional SMS consent checkbox on our request form or by initiating an SMS conversation with our business number.
You do not have to agree to receive SMS messages to submit a request, request a quote, or receive service. SMS consent is not a condition of purchase or service.
SMS messages may include quote updates, preliminary budget guidance, scheduling, appointment coordination, appointment reminders, follow-up messages, photo requests, address or access questions, customer support, and other service-related communications.
SMS messages may include links to our website, quote request form, privacy policy, terms page, scheduling information, or project-related resources.
SMS messages may also include phone numbers when needed for service coordination, customer support, appointment coordination, or communication with a worker or service provider related to your request.
Message frequency varies depending on your request and communication with us.

South Star LLC does not sell, rent, share, or transfer your SMS opt-in information or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
15. Third-Party Websites, Platforms, and Services
South Star Home Services may communicate through third-party platforms, websites, phone systems, email providers, messaging providers, scheduling tools, form tools, hosting providers, analytics tools, or other vendors.
South Star is not responsible for the acts, omissions, outages, errors, delays, privacy practices, terms, fees, or policies of any third-party platform or service.
Third-party vendors may process communications or technical data only as needed to provide services to South Star LLC or to support customer communication, scheduling, forms, hosting, security, analytics, or business operations.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Your continued use of the website, communication with us, or use of services after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
